[Dragonmun Studios] This Show Was On Fire!

Greetings from Zombieland, where I am now a temporary resident (holy smokes, I am so tired! 😴). MegaCon was hot this year! It was so lit that it was 🔥🔥🔥…

Okay, actually it was just smoke once they put the pizza fire out. There was no need to clear the building. It was contained and extinguished almost instantly. I personally thought it smelled delicious.

Shout out to all the people that visited me at my booth! It was such a joy to be able to talk with you in person! I apologize for the absolute word salad I offered. I was dealing with an on-again/off-again migraine (that I'm starting to suspect might be a new food allergy) and was just totally off my game. Despite that, it was my most successful MegaCon yet! I'm definitely going back next year! 😁

Last Month In Art

March is when my daughter's school decided to have their spring break, so I was heavily delayed in getting any art done. Following that, I dove head-long into convention prep and ran short on time to do anything else, so most of what I was able to get done art-wise was on Twitch. In fact, I'll be continuing to work on this today at noon (EDT) over on my channel there.

I didn't even get a chance to work on anything for Sivoa until I was at the show -  so I finally got to act on my desire to paint in watercolors and completed this month's illustration while I was at my booth! 😀

The Near Future:

Next event up is Earthday Birthday, a big rock festival put on by an Orlando local radio station. Mel's Bad Girls Club (one of my favorite charities) is hosting an art village there and I will be sharing my tent with my friend Lesi, who has some awesome dragon statues that work well with my illustrations.

I also recently got a quote from my editor on how much it'll cost for her to comb through and polish up the Sivoa: Zenith manuscript! This means that the wait is almost over! Y'all be getting another book!

I'm planning on launching the kickstarter for this at the end of June. I'll keep y'all informed on that here. 🙂

This month's newsletter is late because something really exciting was on a mail truck, heading to my house, and I wanted to share it with you all! Right there, in the image at the top of the newsletter, is the printed draft of the Sivoa : Zenith manuscript! I'm going to attack that brain baby with so much red ink in what will be the first of many rounds of book editing. I'm so excited! Unfortunately, this does not mean that I have a release date yet. Editing is a process that takes a long time, and that's before I send it to my editor, Patty . What it does mean is that sometime in the near future I will likely be offering the ability to beta-read the thing to those on Patreon (this will be a separate thing from the raw preview snippets). [Dragonmun Studios] To Tell The Truth... or Not. 😅

The paintings I did for "Fabrications: An Exhibit About Truth and Lies" Today (Nov. 5th) is the DeLand Original Music Festival ! As the name implies, it's all about  supporting Florida's independent musicians and has over a hundred acts performing on… I don't actually know how many stages (the schedule can be found here ). It also lightly supports Florida's other kinds of artists, which is why I'm here right now! 😁 Lesi and I set up the Dragonmun Studios art tent just outside of the Mainstage/VIP/Artist Village gates and are gonna be camping out here all day to sell our fantastic creations! [Dragonmun Studios] Welcome to the 'bers!

The Sandman has been on repeat in my house since my last email. I love this adaptation! We're out of August and into the 'bers! Pumpkin stuff has taken over everything and some of us are pretending that there's a hint of cold in the air (which is a total lie in Florida and why I'm going to go visit some mountains at some point). Sensory Overload lived up to its name and might have traumatized me and my kid some (I'm honestly proud of the political artists that threw down hard this year! Well done!). We recovered by eating doughnuts at the awesome shop in the Orlando Library 's garage - which is something I recommend everyone go do when they're visiting the CityArts Factory . The two things just compliment each other so perfectly! Like CSoH coffee and Spooky Empire … which I'll be at again this year! This October will be my first time running an art table all my own there and I'm actually kinda nervous about it. I'm a fantasy author/artist ! W
